The USGA is a mission-based golf organization whose purpose is to:
Unify the golf community through handicapping and grassroots programs
Showcase the game’s best talent through the U.S. Open, U.S. Women’s Open Presented by Ally and 13 other national championships and our museum
Govern with The R&A through the playing, equipment and Amateur Status rules
Advance issues important to golf’s future, with a focus on driving sustainability, accessibility and inclusion.
As a nonprofit association, our work and our team are driven to act for the good of the game.
For more than 130 years, the USGA has been committed to championing and advancing the best interests of golf, for those who love and play it. Our mission is enacted every day by the USGA’s most important asset – our people. One way we recognize their importance is to provide a valuable suite of benefits, programs and resources that support professional achievement and personal well-being at every stage of life. The USGA’s benefits, programs and resources reflect our commitment to provide employees and their families with the ability to enhance physical, emotional, and financial well-being.
“At the USGA, our greatest resource is our people – a passionate team dedicated to advancing the game we all love. I believe in surrounding myself with best, and if you're driven by a commitment to the game and a desire to make a lasting impact, we’d love for you to join us in shaping the future of golf.”

At the USGA, you’ll find a community of colleagues who are uniquely connected to one shared goal: we work for the good of the game. We all care deeply about leaving it better than we found it and contribute to it in significant ways. We support each other just as we support the golfers we work for, we celebrate our hometown courses as much as our championship venues, and we build lifelong relationships with those in the golf industry we work to serve.
You don’t need to play or be a fan of golf to work here, but the values of the game - sportsmanship, integrity, character – are deeply embedded into our work culture. We value new perspectives, great ideas, diverse thinking and different skill sets that make us only stronger.
For those that want to pursue deeper connections, we also have a variety of employee resource groups who meet regularly to support each other.
Impact internships support a specific department within the USGA, offering meaningful exposure to functional, strategic, and operational areas of our business. Internships may be available in a number of USGA departments, including Finance, Communications, Marketing, Human Resources, and more. Impact interns typically work full-time schedules at our campuses in Liberty Corner, N.J. and Pinehurst, N.C.
Looking for hands-on experience in sports? Check out a Championship internship! Championship interns are assigned to work the U.S. Open, U.S. Women’s Open, or U.S Senior Open, which change location sites each year, and are provided with housing in the host community.
Long-term internships generally run from February – August.
Short-term internships generally run from May – July.
